Attorney General making stop in Hawthorne
Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt will be meeting with Mineral County residents on Oct. 6 from 12 to 1 p.m. at the El Capitan. He will be sharing his vision for the future of Nevada and how Nevadans can grow the economy and create jobs, improve the education system and keep families safe.

Addiction Recovery Program offered
An Addiction Recovery Program (ARP) program is being held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (207 South A Street in Hawthorne.) It is open to all, members and non-members alike. Elder and Sister Bruni will be the facilitators. The ARP is for those who desire assistance in overcoming anything that interferes with the living of their lives. Addictions encompass food, alcohol, medications and illegal drugs and anything that adversely affects the quality of our lives. In keeping with most recovery programs, confidentiality is a cornerstone.
The program is held on the first three Tuesday’s of each month from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Sunday School/Relief Society room. For anyone unfamiliar with the church, one enters through the back door and additional directions will be inside. Their gold Highlander will be parked at the door.
Concert on tap at junior high gym
A welcome back for a new year of music at Mineral County School District will be held on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. in the junior high school gym. They are off to a swift start with their first junior high school/high school combined choir and band. Since it will be in October they are preparing the concert to be something of a pop concert, featuring some current songs from the radio, as well as film scores and exciting music by classical composers Tchaikovsky and W.A. Mozart.
Admission is $1 per person.
