Candidate for the office of Recorder-Auditor

I filed for the office of Recorder-Auditor because I know that my knowledge and experience with our local government operations, I can fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the office. As Clerk-Treasurer for 8 years (2007-2014), I had the opportunity to work closely with the Recorder-Auditor’s on a regular basis – the two offices work together as a “check and balance” system for financial transactions, ensuring all the County’s financial status is balanced, accurate and transparent. I am also knowledgeable in the County’s budget process (one of the office’s primary functions).

The Recorder-Auditor serves as the County’s Human Resources office, dealing with many personnel issues, ensuring labor laws and union contracts are followed by department heads and performing payroll functions for the County’s employees. Having served in a supervisory capacity for both local government and private industry for almost 20 years and am well acquainted with these duties, as well.

The County will soon transition to a new accounting computer system. With over 30 years of experience in using computers and various software programs, I’m sure the change in systems will not be a challenge for me. I am enthusiastic and supportive of technology upgrades and learn quickly.

I’ve worked for Mineral County in a public servant capacity for nearly 15 years. I’m familiar with functions of many departments, the various elected officials, department heads and many of the employees. In January 2015, I was appointed by the Board of County Commissioners to serve as Director for the Senior Services Program (Care & Share). At that time, the program was in severe financial hardship. Under my management and support from a great team of employees, our program soon recovered. With financial assistance from the County to help cover expenses not funded by grants, and ad valorem tax revenues (thanks to the voters and tax payers of Mineral County), both the Mina and Hawthorne senior center sites are still open.

Simply put, I am confident that I am the most knowledgeable and capable candidate for the office of Recorder-Auditor and would greatly appreciate your vote. Vote for knowledge and experience and a smooth transition from one official to another, because politics have nothing to do with administering the duties of the office of Recorder-Auditor.

Thank you.
