Boxes filled with canned goods, holiday trimmings and a turkey were distributed to 60 needy families in Mineral County over the weekend.

With donations from businesses and help from the CAHS food bank, each box was loaded with food to help keep hungry neighbors in our communities fed for a few days.

The Elks along with Boy Scouts have been coming to the aid of those less fortunate in the community each holiday season but without the help of organizers, helpers and those who donate, it would not have happened.

Exalted Ruler Steve McBride was thankful and stated, “Once again the community came together to help those in need. On behalf of the Elks officers and members, thank you very much.”

Remember, hunger is not a problem just around the holiday season. Food banks run low all year long. If you would like to help with donations to either the Elks food basket project or CAHS food bank, please contact an Elk or a CAHS employee on ways that you may help stop hunger in your community.
