The Mineral County Advisory Board to Manage Wildlife met to discuss the possibility of introducing elk to Mineral County.

The group voted unanimously in favor of the proposition and have forwarded a letter asking the Mineral County Commissioners to grant their support in the introduction.

During the wildlife board meeting, Jason Salisbury, of Nevada Division of Wildlife explained that Mineral County has the terrain and feed to sustain elk.

The commissioners met on Wednesday to determine whether they will support this effort or not. The Independent-News will keep its readers up to date on the subject.
