In Loving Memory of Rod Andrew Moore
December 26, 1959 – April 6, 2024

With deep love and gratitude, we remember the life of Rod Andrew Moore, an exceptional man who lived by the guiding principles: “Harm none and help when you can,” and “Above all else, to thine own self be true.”

Born on December 26, 1959, in Hawthorne, Nevada, to Jack Moore and Rosario Moore, he embraced life with kindness, curiosity, and authenticity. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ray Moore. He is survived by his daughter Aubree Burkholder and granddaughters Aislin Burkholder and Ariana Burkholder, sister Renee Moore and brother Jack Moore, and his aunt Dolores Pummill and many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

He found his greatest joy in giving to others, whether through thoughtful gifts, handcrafted wooden bowls, or simply sharing time and wisdom. Known for his many hobbies and passions, he approached everything he did with dedication and care. He would often spend hours researching the best climbing routes, fishing spots, or equipment before devoting himself fully to mastering each pursuit. His patient, generous spirit made him a cherished teacher to family and friends alike.

An avid lover of the outdoors, he treasured the forest, the ocean, and the desert, and found peace in rock climbing, fishing, bike riding, and martial arts. He enjoyed music, drumming, bonsai trees, Bruce Lee films, cheesecake, the Fourth of July, and, most of all, the company of those he loved.

Books were a lifelong passion, and Stephen King was among his favorite authors. He valued libraries deeply, often visiting the Carson City Library, where he shared his love for reading, chess, and the written word with those around him — inspiring a respect for learning and curiosity in others.

His kindness, quiet strength, and generous spirit will be missed every day. All who knew him carry forward richer lives because of his presence, and his memory will continue to inspire and guide us.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Mills Park in the East Pavilions on Sunday, August 31, from 3–6 pm.
