JoAnn Jackson
God called His faithful servant JoAnn Jackson into His rest on January 5, 2014; at Renown Hospital in Reno. She was 59, born February 1, 1954 in Ogden, Utah. She graduated from Mineral County High in 1972.
After high school, JoAnn worked in various areas of employment while continuing to reside in Hawthorne. At the time of her death, she was Executive Director of Consolidated Agencies of Human Services – CAHS; and recently was recognized for 10 years work in this agency.
JoAnn had a God-spirited heart for His people, especially children and babies. Let’s not forget to mention her love for the animals. Her efforts to feed the hungry and serve those in need had no bounds. She would even travel beyond Hawthorne to be an advocate to access additional resources. All because she was a woman that truly loved Lord.
JoAnn often spoke of her coming into the knowledge and accepting Christ at a young age. A member of Trinity Temple Church of God In Christ in Hawthorne and active in The Northern Nevada First Ecclesiastical Jurisdictional. She was a missionary Sunday school teacher, soloist, prayer and praise leader and participated in jail ministry for women.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Loving husband and best friend, Minister Larry Jackson; son: Patrick (Debra) of Winnemucca; daughters: KiEtha of Baton Rouge, La.; Sarana of Hawthorne; Larrilynn of Hampton, Va.; beloved mother Bobbie Jean Sloan; Sister: LaVerne Kinchen; niece Andrianna Williams, all of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren; a host of friends, the community, her church and Jurisdictional families and the staff at CAHS (where she spent most of her daily time).

Seems I’ve known JoAnn since birth. Her passing came as such a shock, it’s still hard to believe. Larry & kiddos, our deepest sympathy. JoAnn will be forever missed but I know the angels sang the minute she went home. JoAnn was the kindest women I ever met.
I was looking in my MCHS annuals, there is a snap shot of a Junior Prom 1970. Right there: Larry Jackson & JoAnn Sloan side by side. Larry if u ever need any thing, please reach out to us.
I am so saddened by this news. JoAnn was such a special, loving person and I can only imagine that she enhanced CAHS 1000% as Executive Director. When I think of her as a friend in high school, I remember a girl who was always smiling. She had such a sweetness about her. Please know, Larry, that your loss weighs heavy on my heart. I know she is watching over all of you though, from her new vantage point…..and I’m sure she is smiling….
