The Mineral County High girls softball team competed in the regional tournament May 9-10 and were able to make some noise as the No. 4 seed. 

The girls faced the No. 1 seed Wells in game one of the tournament and fell 13-3. The loss dropped them to the bottom of the bracket where they took on Virginia City later in the day. In a game that featured 54 total hits, the Serpents came out on top with a thrilling 22-21 win.

Jazmin Serrato led the way on offense with a huge day for Mineral County. The junior had five hits, eight RBI’s and three runs scored, while Raeane Johnson tallied four hits and knocked in six in the Serpent win.

Mineral County advanced to the semifinals of the tournament the next morning where they met up with Wells again after they lost to Pyramid Lake. The Serpent girls’ run came to an end there as they fell in the game, 9-4.

Wells went on to beat Pyramid Lake twice in the championship round to take the regional title. Both teams advanced to state where they will battle it out with Round Mountain and Pahranagat Valley at Indian Springs High May 15-17.

The Mineral County girls finished the season 15-8 overall.
