It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy (Dot, Dotty) Myers, 84, announces her sudden passing. She peacefully passed away March 16, 2025.
Dorothy was born on November 16, 1940, in Newfoundland, Canada to Elizabeth and John Knee. She grew up in Newfoundland and was the first born of 9 children. Dorothy met the love of her life, Gary while he was in the Air Force, Stationed in Newfoundland. The two married on May 30, 1959. They later relocated to California, and then made their home in Hawthorne, NV in 1966. The two were married for 63 wonderful years. They shared a life filled with making memories with their three children, extended family, pets, and friends.
Dorothy was a long-time member and active in the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter M, an active member of the Community Presbyterian Church, an avid reader, a talented baker, crafter, and seamstress. Dorothy loved to knit sweaters and make blankets for her Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and extended family and local babies.
Dorothy enjoyed a lengthy career in the nursing field and retired from Mount Grant General Hospital. After Dorothy retired from nursing, she enjoyed babysitting, camping, gardening, and motorcycle riding with Gary.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her loving husband, Gary Myers, her parents Elizabeth and John Knee, brothers, George, and Kevin Knee. Dorothy is survived by her three children, Randy Myers, Pamela Kappes and Paula Balsi, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.
