The Western Pyrotechnic Association’s Do It Conference is back, and the immersive multi day fireworks manufacturing gathering will be held in Hawthorne again September 20-24.

The Do It Conference is designed to provide comprehensive training and hands-on practice in pyrotechnic manufacturing and is tailored for pyrotechnic aficionados who want to refine their skills and improve their experience under the guidance of pyrotechnics experts.

The structure of the Do It Conference is simple…during the event, participants generally build fireworks all day and shoot them off until 11 p.m. There are no seminars or public displays, and limited vendors. For those who want to take part and further their understanding of the world of pyrotechnics, C-line products will be available to buy onsite but B-line rockets/mortars/other products, BP, and chems are only available to order online beforehand.

The nighttime Afterglow fireworks-shooting event is held in a dirt parking lot with lawn chairs and a bonfire. The Do It Conference host hotel is a mile away from the shoot site.

The Do It Conference welcomes pyrotechnics enthusiasts of all kinds, from beginners who are eager to learn to experienced pyrotechnicians looking to refine their craft. This is an event that combines the tools, network, and knowledge to excel in pyrotechnic manufacturing.

Organizers will start setting up for the Do It Conference on September 19 and the event will wrap up on Sunday, September 24. Attendees are strongly encouraged to register and pay the fees on the WPA website at www.westernpyro.org in advance. For those registering onsite, people will have to show proof of current membership; bring a check, money order, or credit card to pay (no cash accepted); and come with the correct amount of fees already calculated. Money orders are available at the post office and Safeway.

Dinner is included in the cost of the registration fee and will be provided on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening s (September 20-23) starting at 5 p.m.. Members are encouraged to bring desserts.

Safety meetings will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday afternoon preceding dinner and all WPA chair members will be present to cover vital details of the event, such as burn pit rules, site issues, shooting line requirements, and dinner details. Every participant must attend at least one safety meeting and wristbands to shoot will be issued after the meeting.

The Do It Conference will be held at the Hawthorne Speedway on Bonanza Road. For more information about the event or to become a member of the Western Pyrotechnic Association, visit https://www.westernpyro.org/events/do-it/.
