The Mineral County boys basketball team traveled to Beatty for a Friday night conference opener last week and came away with a victory. 

The Serpents led after the first quarter 14-10. The boys turned up the heat with defensive pressure full count and went on a 19-4 run and a 33-14 halftime lead . The Serpents coasted through the second half and won 53-42. Devayne Isom led the team with17 points and 2 steals. Andre White finished the game with 8 points, 7 assists, and 5 steals. Tyler Thoma had 7 points and 5 rebounds. Joe Davis had 6 points and led the Serpents with 6 rebounds.

On Saturday, the boys were at home against the Round Mountain Knights. The Serpents opened the first quarter with full court pressure and jumped out to a 23-8 lead. Boys kept up the pressure and did very well to take a 40-18 lead at halftime. Final score was 61-46 as the Serpents used the second half to get the bench playing time to develop down the road. Tristen Jones was top scorer with 15 points. Isom had 11 points, and 9 steals. Davis had 11 rebounds.

The next home game will be Friday against Tonopah. Junior Varsity boys play at 4:30 p.m., varsity girls at 6 p.m. and varsity boys at 7:30 p.m.
