The Mineral County High girls basketball team won three more league games last week and remained perfect in the 1A Western Conference.

The girls hosted Sierra Sage Academy last Wednesday and cruised to a 66-8 win behind 19 points from freshman sensation Perla Gutierrez. Hailey Lahre added 12 points in a game where nine Lady Serpents got into the scoring column.

Gutierrez scored 28 points and Julieanna Williams finished with eight as Mineral County routed Virginia City 61-22 Friday night on the Comstock. Lahre and Claudia Benton-Nielsen each had six points in the win.

Smith Valley came to town on Saturday and the Lady Serpents outscored the Bulldogs 22-9 in the second quarter and came away with a tight 51-45 win. Gutierrez continued her tear with 31 points and Lahre added 12 of her own and seven rebounds.

With the wins, the first-place Lady Serpents improved to 17-3 overall and 10-0 in league play. They will travel to Whittell Friday night before playing at Excel Christian in Sparks on Saturday afternoon.
