Annie was born Sept. 2, 1931 in Troup, Texas to Ella Hunt and Jack Duncan. Annie met and then married Alfred T. Prince on Sept. 20, 1947. They moved to Hawthorne, Nev. in 1951 with three children: Joyce, Walter and Evelyn. Their fourth child, Willie, was born in Fallon, Nev. Annie and Alfred became members of Bethel Baptist Church where Annie was a choir member and Alfred was a deacon. Annie worked for Mineral County School District in several different capacities, the last being the librarian for the elementary school. She retired from the school district in 2002. Annie was also the financial secretary for Bethel Baptist Church retiring in 2014.
Annie enjoyed her time with Soroptomist-Hawthorne. Her children knew this because they all participated in her activities. Annie passed away at her home on Nov. 3, 2019. Preceding her in death was her husband, Alfred; parents: Ella Hunt and Jack Duncan; grandmother, Maggie Hunt and aunts: Odessa McNeal and Rena Townsend. She leaves to cherish her memories, daughters: Joyce A. Williams (John) Gardnerville, Nev. and Evelyn Cooper, Hawthorne, Nev.; sons: Walter L. Prince and Willie A. Prince of Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grand children; her first cousin, Dora B. Landers, Los Angeles, Calif. and a host of relatives and friends.
Viewing for Annie will be held on Friday, Nov. 22 from 3-5 p.m. at Gunter’s Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Bethel Baptist Church.
