The Mineral County High School football team blew out an opponent for the second straight week on Friday night after defeating Sierra Lutheran at home, 74-23.

The Serpents got out to an early lead and never looked back in the contest. They put up 60 plus points in both contests this year after defeating Whittell 64- 18 the week before.

“It’s a great way to start off the season,” Serpent coach Marty Waggoner said after last week’s win. “These are great games to start out with so that we can get all the young kinds experience.”

Mineral County (2-0) faces an old rival this week when they travel to Virginia City Saturday at 1 p.m. The Muckers (1- 1) are coming off a 60-0 loss to Hosanna Christian out of Oregon.
