Barley’s Sports Bar has been the home of an annual Chili Cook Off and Armwrestling Tournament each Armed Forces Day since its inception. Several years back, owner Merlin Hall had the idea to modify the format of these events to raise funds for the Kenny Bostic Memorial Youth Athletic Fund (KBMYAF), a local charity that provides scholarships and supports athletic programs for youth in our community. This foundation is named for the late Sgt. Kenneth Bostic, who was killed by sniper fire in Iraq in 2006. This year, Barley’s enjoyed a larger-than-average attendance at these events generating over $3,000, nearly double the amount of last year’s donation. Plans are already in motion to support the KBMYAF Freedom Pull 2020 at Barley’s Sports Bar.
