On Friday, May 3, Louie Combs – loving father, grandfather and friend, passed away at the age of 64.
Louie was born on Nov. 16, 1954 in Hawthorne to Hayden and Anell Combs. He was not only a Nevada native but was also a Hawthorne native. After graduating from Mineral County High School in 1972 he went to trade school in Arizona to be an auto mechanic.
While living in Hawthorne he worked at the family business Combs Muffler, the Ford dealership, Day & Zimmermann/Basil Corporation and Mineral County Road Department. He retired from the county after 20 plus years in 2016.
Louie had a passion for his family and his community. He loved to hunt, ride his Harley, take rides in the desert or just spend quality time with family. He was an avid car enthusiast and was also part of many different clubs and organizations within the community. Louie was a part of the Hawthorne Stock car association, he helped and participated in the BMX program, Mineral County Search and Rescue and always looked forward to volunteering at the Best in the Desert each year. Also, while working for the county he was the Steward for the Local 39 Union.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Hayden and Anell Combs.
He is survived by his life partner: Lynn Trela of Hawthorne; his three children: Dawn (Mike) Rosemark of Sparks, Aaron (Stephanie) Combs of Augusta, Ga. and Jeremy (Tricia) Combs of Hawthorne; his grandchildren: Brianna, Derek, Jacob, Xander, Andrew, Nathan, Miles, Chad and Nicole. Louie is also survived by his sisters: Karen Ernsberger and Cassandra Rucker, both of Hawthorne and his brother: John Combs of Dallas, Texas.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 25 at 11 a.m. at the Elks Lodge (520 E. 5th Street). A potluck is to follow.
