Perla Gutierrez scored 16 points and Julieanna Williams added 12 as the Mineral County High girls basketball team cruised to another victory last Friday night over Sierra Sage Academy.

The girls raced out to a big lead at the half and won their first conference game 55-12. Raynee Knight finished with nine points and Hailey Lahre chipped in eight to help lead the Lady Serpents.

The Lady Serpents were at it again the next day against Pyramid Lake and improved to 2-0 in league play with a 65-37 win. Gutierrez had a game-high 30 points and Jerzi Moody finished with 10. Lahre had another solid game with nine points and five rebounds.

Mineral County (9-3, 2-0) hosted Excel Christian on Tuesday and will play at Coleville Friday night.
