Aletha Lininger

Aletha Lininger passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 92.

She was born in New Market, Iowa and grew up on a farm there. She met and married Donald in Clarinda, Iowa where they settled down and started raising a family. When jobs were scarce, they moved to Hawthorne, where they built their house and raised their three boys: Donnie, Monte and Clarence.

Aletha worked at the El Capitan as a waitress and hostess for many years, always greeting everyone with a smile. After retiring, she and Donald traveled, making three trips to Alaska. They spent their winters in Arizona and summers at home. She enjoyed all of her grandkids and great grandkids and they always knew where Grandma Aletha kept the homemade cookies.

She is survived by her three sons: Donnie (Susan), Monte (Penny) andClarence (Teri); grandchildren: Valdine; Monte Roy; Chris; Tabatha; Donald; Paul; John; Kelley and Kim and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Services will be held at Gunter’s Funeral Home on Friday, May 12, at 10 a.m. She will be laid to rest at a later date with her husband of 73 years, Donald, at the Veterans Cemetery in Fernley.
