Irene Lillian Franklin-Gray

Longtime Hawthorne resident, Irene Lillian Franklin-Gray, peacefully transitioned to our Lord and ancestors on Sunday, November 26, 2017 in Pahrump, Nev.
We are grateful that Mrs. Gray lived a long life of 96 years.
Mrs. Gray was born on the day of May 22, 1921 in Alexandria, La. as the youngest daughter of eleven children to Levi Franklin and Georgia Hankins.
Mr. and Mrs. Gray lived their entire married life in Hawthorne. Mrs. Gray was a civil service employmee at the Hawthorne Naval Ammunition Depot as an ordnance worker on the military base.
Mrs. Gray was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church as well as a member of the National Association for Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
Her family will always remember her powerful example as a loving wife and mother of five children: Lillian Gray-Mayes; Eloise Gray-Solomon; Otis Gray; Anthony Gray and Jeffery Gray. Mrs. Gray was a strong leading light to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren because of her life long work in building family values.
