Loren Sutherland died peacefully at home in San Mateo, Calif., on Jan. 14 at age 66.  He was born in Hawthorne on October 18, 1947 to Wallace and Ruby Sutherland (formerly of Babbitt and Hawthorne from 1942 to 1959). He is survived by daughter, Amy (Michael) Bacher; Grandson Zane & Granddaughter Ellison of Keller, Texas; brother Wallace M. Sutherland of San Mateo; cousin Don Swanson of Hawthorne and cousin Mary Ann (Johnson) Edick of Sparks. After attending grade school in Hawthorne, he graduated from Pacific High School in San Bernardino, Calif. in 1965.  In 1971 he received a BA degree in Business at California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo and Commission as an Army ROTC officer 2nd Lt. He served two years active and 15 years reserve in the Army with rank of Major.  His business career spanned over 35 years for the semiconductor industry in Silicon Valley as a Sales and Marketing Executive.

A “Celebration of Life” service will be held at a later date.  Contributions in his honor can be sent to The Salvation Army, Santa Clara Calif. chapter.  Loren is now at peace in heaven with family and friends. He was a member of the Menlo Park Presbyterian Church.
