After last year’s abduction of the purple dinosaur at the Hawthorne Elementary School, students were extremely upset that their toy had been damaged beyond repair.
With the help of school board trustee, Donna Glazier, the El Capitan Lodge and Casino decided to purchase an exact purple dinosaur replacement.
The Mineral County School District maintenance staff worked hard on installing him to his new place on the school playground. Instead of his normal spot, he has been relocated to where he has a direct line of sight of Walker Lake and his friend, Cecil.
With school starting on Aug. 22, the purple dinosaur eagerly awaits the students when they return for a new year of learning and fun.
