The Mineral County High boys basketball team won both conference games over the weekend to move into a tie with Whittell for the top spot in the conference.

The Serpents put together a strong second half to beat Sierra Lutheran at home Friday 62-36 after only leading 30-23 at the break. Mineral County upped the defense in the third quarter holding Sierra Lutheran scoreless and adding 17 of their own for a commanding 47-23 lead.

Taylen Wachsmith had another double-double game, 24 points and 13 rebounds. Robert McFalls had 14 points, Andre Davis had nine points with six assists and Alfonso Trujillo added nine points. Brandon West contributed with six rebounds and five assists.

On Saturday, the team went to Coleville and won easily 64-17. The Serpents set the tone early in the first quarter when they ran past the Wolves 29-2. The bench emptied and everyone got solid playing time.

Isaiah Crowl led the Serpents with 21 points and Eddie Dunnett poured in 10. Davis also scored 10 points accompanied by six assists while Wachsmith finished with 10 points and 14 rebounds for his third double-double in three conference games.

The Serpents will host Pyramid Lake, 2-1 in conference, Tuesday night. On Friday, Mineral County will travel to Whittell for a conference showdown for the top spot. The folowing day they will be home against Excel Christian. The games are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Support your Serpents.
