The Awana’s Kids Club is now meeting at the old Juvenile Probation Center (JPO) in Hawthorne. Kids from around the community meet together on Wednesdays, from 2 to 4 p.m. to participate in games and positive interaction with one another. Ages 5-18 are divided into categories to benefit the kids and create positive club activities.

The Awana Club was founded as a youth association, which was based upon benefiting children spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally. By coming together, our local children are learning some proper social skills of getting along and sharing. Another component is listening to others and learning to relate to other kids and respect leadership.

Currently the group is gearing up for special events scheduled in 2016, including a fundraising effort which will bring in finances to continue offering snacks and provide the funds necessary to full stock their “Point System Store” program.

Children are encouraged to build up scores which they can exchange at the store. This develops their involvement as well as encouraging attendance and good behaviors.
