5John “Pat” Miller also known as JP, of Fernley passed away Sunday, March 15 in Reno.  Pat was born March 13, 1933 in Morgan Town, W. Va. and moved to Reno in the early 1940’s.  He attended Reno High School and his senior year he moved to Hawthorne where he graduated from Mineral County High School in 1951.

Pat, a Korean War veteran was inducted in the U.S. Army, March 1953 and honorably discharged March of 1955.  When he returned home to Reno, he continued his education at the UNR and majored in Business Administration with a Minor in Economics.  He began his career in business as a realtor and through the years he worked in the gaming industry at the Pioneer Inn.  He also worked in banking and finished his job skills in the real estate industry.  Pat was a member of the Sertoma Club out of Sparks, Nev. for 55 years.  He was also in the Sons of Erin for 46 years and the Elks Lodge of Hawthorne for 40 yrs.  One of this passions was playing golf with his club “spot”.

He is survived by his loving wife, Alice of 45 years; four loving children: Tammy Hamrey, husband Eric, of Hawthorne; Wade Wennerberg of Reno, Nev. and the twins Timothy Miller and Michael Miller with his wife Darci of Moab, Utah; four grandchildren: Timothy Hall, Gary Hamrey, Wyatt Miller and Kevyn Orndorf.  Pat cared for and loved everyone he came in contact with and will be deeply missed.
A celebration of Pat’s life will be held on Sat. Apr. 18, 2015 at 2 p.m. at 2555 Sequoia Land in Hidden Valley, Reno, Nev.
