Golden Gate Petroleum announced this week that its new Hawthorne truck stop is on track to open its doors on Nov. 15.

Construction began in late July at their new location, across from McDonald’s on the U.S. Highway 95 truck bypass, and the progress has been noticeable nearly every week. The exterior of the building is close to completion and the gas pumps and canopy will be installed in the coming weeks.

When finished, the truck stop will have eight regular pumps, three diesel, and a full service convenience store with a Port of Subs sandwich shop inside.

“Everything is on track for our grand opening Nov. 15,” said manager David Collier. “We are very excited, and have heard nothing but positive feedback from the community.”

The company held a job fair at the Mineral County Economic Development Authority office last Thursday where they had 55 applicants for the store and 35 for Port of Subs.

They will employ nine people for the truck stop and six for the sandwich shop.
