Health needs change from year to year.  In addition, healthcare providers may change their benefits and costs each year.  Because these changes by healthcare providers may affect you, it is important to review your Medicare choices each fall during the annual Medicare open enrollment period.

Open Enrollment is the one time of year when ALL people with Medicare can see what new benefits Medicare has to offer and make changes to their coverage.  It is well worth your time to review and compare plans.  The good news is that local help is available.

The Nevada State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) is ready to assist Medicare Beneficiaries navigate these changes.   Nevada SHIP has certified counselors and volunteers ready to assist Medicare Beneficiaries.  SHIP can assist with:

• Comparing healthcare plans using the Medicare.gov site.

• Filing disputes or questions regarding summary notices received from Medicare.

• Applying for programs that help those with limited income pay for their prescription medication costs.

• Reviewing your current Medicare coverage to make sure it meets your needs.

You can receive one-on-one help from your local Nevada SHIP.  Call to schedule an appointment: Northern Nevada – 877-385-2345.
