Eric Dahlberg, former writer and photographer for the Mineral County Independent-News, has been promoted to General Manager of the newspaper.

Dahlberg, who started at the Independent-News when Battle Born Media purchased it from the Hughes brothers in May 2011, worked as a journalist and distributor for the paper through 2012. He has since been in charge of layout and website management for the Independent-News, Lincoln County Record and Eureka Sentinel, three of five Battle Born outlets.

“Eric has been with the company since day one, and has done a great job learning different aspects of the business,” Battle Born CEO Kirk Kern said. “He will be a great asset to the paper and town of Hawthorne in his new position.”

Dahlberg will continue to do the layout for the paper in addition to his new duties as GM.

“I’m very excited to begin this new venture, and can’t wait to get started,” Dahlberg said. “I look forward to working closely with Heidi (Bunch) and Stephen (Tool) to improve upon what is already one of the best community newspapers in the state.”

In addition to the Mineral County Independent-News, Battle Born Media owns and operates the Ely Times, Eureka Sentinel, Lincoln County Record and Mesquite Local News.
