The Mineral County High baseball team dropped two games to Tonopah on April 4. The Serpents lost the first game, 12-11, and then fell 14-4 in the second game.

“It was freezing cold in Tonopah,” Coach Darren Hamrey said. “We ran through a lot of pitchers, it was pitch by committee.”

Daniel Owens had six hits on the day to lead the Serpents.

“We had a couple of guys who had great games,” Hamrey said. “Daniel Owens had six hits on the day Victor (Williams) hit heck out of the ball. Chance Stearns laid down a couple of sweet bunts; Brodie MacPherson did the same. Pooter (Sheldon Self) had a good day at the bat.

“What really killed us were walks and errors. Other than that, it was a pretty straightforward game; nothing too spectacular. Oh yeah. Victor Williams hit an inside-the-park home run.”
