Melba June Gentry, a longtime resident of Fallon, Hawthorne and Gabbs, passed away at her home in Reese River Valley on September 14, 2013 at the age of 84 to finally be reunited with her beloved husband after waiting 35 long years.

Melba was born in Fallon on June 30, 1929 to Delmar and Laverne Parsons. Melba had lived out her life in Central Nevada and Idaho. She married Starlin Gentry on June 2, 1951 in Roswell, Idaho. She enjoyed camping; traveling and spending time with family. She particularly loved to play cards and board games while visiting with family and friends. Her favorite place to visit was Yellowstone National Park.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 27 years, Starlin Gentry, Sr.; her father and mother; her three brothers: Delmar; Roger and Dale; her sisters: Linda Parsons; Delverna West; Barbara Sunderland; and Patricia Howard and her granddaughter, Connie Gentry.

Melba is survived by her sisters: Mildred Barcroft of Fernley; Lois Olds of Portland, Ore.; Margaret Young of Rexburg, Idaho; and Jodie Olds of Vancouver, Wash.; son Clyde Gentry (Dee) of Gabbs; grandson, Brian; son John Gentry (Roz) of Resse River Valley; grandchildren: Lemuel and Samantha Jo and great grandson Carter; son Charles Gentry (Joanna) of Ione; grandchildren: Chaz, Coleman, Samantha Louise; and Christa; and son Starlin Gentry, Jr. (Sherry) of Lovelock, grandchildren: Andrew; Katie; Travis; Ty; and Jordan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Melba was a retired security guard, having worked for many years with her sisters Delverna and Barbara at the Hawthorne Army Ammunition Depot.

She was loved by all and will be missed by many.

Graveside services will be held at the Churchill County Cemetery; Fallon, on Oct. 4 at 10 a.m.
