Leslie Wayne Parsons, age 78, passed away May 3, 2017. He was born Dec. 2, 1938 in Saco, Mo. He became a resident of Beatty in 1989. Les served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Hailey (DD556) from 1956 to 1959. Later, he owned and operated NAPA Auto Parts in the towns of Carson City, Hawthorne, Round Mountain and Beatty, Nevada between 1974 and 2013.
Les was passionate about everything to do with Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He was a repeat attendee to Sturgis and coordinated many rides with friends around the west coast. His favorite place was in his own garage, working on bikes and visiting with friends.
Les was well known in the Beatty community, as an active member of the Beatty Lions Club, the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post 12108 and the Beatty Museum.
Les was preceded in death by his wife, Kay Bernadette Parsons; mother, Harriet Pedan; father, Gilbert Smith and wife Kathryn Parsons and brothers, Gerald and Terry Parsons. He is survived by his sisters, Susan Hatfield and Brenda Lucas; daughters, Sheryl Trela and Lona McVeay; grandchildren Leslie Pedergraft, Tiffany and Veronica Trela and Dylan Jensen and great grandchildren, Mason and Olivia Pendergraft.
