Ron and Nancy Wilson of Walker Lake were married August 10, 1963 in a small Catholic Church in Cheboygan, Mich. They have two daughters: Lisa, who lives in Sparks, and Sabrina, of Oregon, and four grandchildren.

They have traveled through many states during Ron’s 22-year career as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal specialist in the US Navy, finally settling in Fallon where he continued to work for the government at the Fallon Naval Base. For 17 years they owned and operated Circle Spear Sporting Goods in Fallon and during that time he provided gun inspections and repairs for security at the Hawthorne Army Base.

In 2004, after 37 years in Fallon, they finally decided it was time to officially “retire” and moved to beautiful Walker Lake where they bought a beautiful summer home which is full of the many collectibles they have gathered throughout their 50 years together. Knowing the real meaning of retirement, they spend the winter months in sunny Arizona. They are also very active in Veterans of Foreign Wars and F-Troop in Hawthorne.

When talking to them about their 50 years, you can still see the love in their eyes as they relive some of the many experiences they have shared. When you talk to them just ask them about Nancy’s “hooker years” and Ron’s “squirrel capturing” ability.

A gathering of friends and family will be held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 10 at the VFW in Hawthorne where we can all congratulate them on their achievement and wish them the best as they continue to make many more great memories together.

Congratulations Ron and Nancy!
