Mr. Beane’s, a coffee shop on E Street in Hawthorne, opened its doors again on Aug. 2.

The coffee shop has been closed since June, when it shut its doors to change operators, said Tara Hall, the new operator.

During the interim, the building got a new coat of exterior paint, and much of the clutter has been cleared out from the inside.

“It’s just a matter of updating a few things here,” Hall said.

Hall said the shop will start selling smoothies; soft serve ice cream; Italian sodas; and baked goods from the nearby Refinery Family Restaurant in the coming days. The ice cream and smoothies will go on sale as soon as the machines to produce them arrive.

The store will also feature longer hours.

While Hall said the hours for Friday, Saturday and Sunday still haven’t been finalized, she plans to keep the shop open from 5 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

“[The changes come] more out of what I think people like,” Hall said. “It just needs to be updated. I think we have more that we can offer here.”
