Now that spring has sprung in Mineral County, there are a lot of upcoming events. Here are some things to put on your calendar:
Pop Warner Cheer Easter
March 31
The Hawthorne Pop Warner Cheer squad will be “egging people’s yards” this weekend in its first annual Easter fundraiser. People had until March 25 to order candy-filled eggs which will then be scattered and hidden around family, friends, and neighbors’ houses on Easter eve.
“We ended up with 700 eggs or so,” says Hawthorne Pop Warner Cheer VP Earnest Wood. This is Pop Warner Cheer’s first fundraiser of the year, and they had a dozen or so buyers. “We made a little bit of money, but candy is very expensive, so we relied on our board members to purchase the eggs and candy and then they donated it to the community,” Wood adds. They plan to do this event again next year and Wood says, “Pop Warner Cheer appreciates all of the support”.

April 6, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
