The U.S. Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment on a Draft Environmental Impact Statement for a 700-megawatt solar project being developed by Nevada-based Arevia Power. The project would be constructed on just under 5,700 acres of federal land controlled by the BLM in Mineral County and power over 200,000 homes.

The BLM hosted an in-person listening session for the public on February 6t at the Boys and Girls Club in Yerington with a virtual meeting the day after.

This is the latest positive step forward for the project, which will ultimately result in 700 construction jobs at the peak of construction and 15 permanent operational jobs, and an investment of over $656 million to the local economy.

While the project is in Mineral County, which will receive most of the associated tax revenues for the project, the geography of the site will result in the largest direct economic impact occurring in Yerington.

In an effort to proactively learn about stakeholders, over the last two years Arevia Power has been working with tribes and community leaders in both counties to answer questions about the project. The project is targeting an end-of-2027 completion date.

Arevia Power is a developer of utility-scale renewable energy solutions, including solar, wind and energy storage. The company is adept at siting, scoping, preparing, and managing renewable energy projects throughout the west.

The comment period ends on March 4, 2024.
