Dear Editor,

Has anyone ever done a cost analysis of our method of handling high-profile vehicles during windstorms in Mineral County? Our current practice is to turn on the wind advisory sign and waiting for the first high-profile vehicle to blow over. Would it be more cost effective to put law enforcement or NDOT at both ends of the area and stop those high-profile vehicles?

Something tells me that small teams stopping high profile vehicles in Schurz and Hawthorne would be more economical than several groups trying to clear the wreckage of three, four, or five trucks. Maybe it will take children in a car crushed under a big rig before we get an answer to that question.
