Mineral County High school will once again play host to the annual Serpent Classic next week.

Seventeen schools will play a three day tournament at the high school and junior high gym that will feature both the boys and girls teams from 1A, 2A and 3A. Both Serpent squads will play five games each.

The girls open play Thursday, Nov. 30 against Battle Mountain at 6:15 p.m. while the boys will open with Sparks at 7:30 p.m.Before the tournament takes place, the Mineral County boys will open the season at 3A Fernley this Friday night. 

The Serpent boys have six returning players from last year’s state runner up team. After the NIAA’S realignment, the Serpents are back in the west division that will feature 14 conference games. This year the west will be rated as the toughest division in 1A.
