Mineral County deputies received a call about a deceased female on May 10 at Walker Lake. When they arrived, they found the body of Katherine Marie Poland. No foul play was suspected.
Poland had been reported missing for a few days. Her family last spoke to her on May 6 where she was believed to have been in the Fernley area. She told her son she was returning home to Hawthorne.
Katherine had been working in the Battle Mountain area, but her last day at the site was May 2.
The Mineral County Sheriff’s Office released a statement thanking everyone in the community and surrounding areas that helped search for her while she was missing, and asked to keep her family in your thoughts.
