It is with a heavy heart that the family of Bill J. Nelson sadly announces his passing on March 8, 2023 at the age of 91, born November 22, 1931 in Missouri and a graduate of Ukiah, CA High School. An Air Force Airman 1st Class Veteran he was Honorably Discharged in 1955.
He married his loving wife Connie in 1958 and celebrated nearly 65 years of happiness together. Bill was a long-time resident of Hawthorne, Nevada, working for Nevada Bell and AT&T before retiring and operating Nelson’s Telephone and Hawthorne Office Supply with Connie for a number of years before permanently retiring and traveling via RV for several years still maintaining Hawthorne as his home ultimately returning full time. He was heavily involved with The Elks as a Past Exalted Ruler in 1992-93 and an active member of the American Legion.

He supported many local charities and activity participated in many worthwhile local events. He was a troop leader with Boy Scouts of America for many years. He was an avid bowler and golfer and participated in serval local tournaments and bowling leagues. He and Connie were members of the Pair-a-Dice square dancing group and traveled numerous times to functions enjoying their trips immensely. He was very outgoing and quick with a smile and joke and will be greatly missed by both family and friends. He is survived by his wife Connie, two sons and a daughter as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He regularly contributed Wounded Warrior and Paralyzed Veterans and any donations in his name would be greatly appreciated, as would any prayers and loving thoughts.
