Jeannette E. Lindstrand passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023 in Hawthorne. Born July 31, 1936 in Watertown, Massachusetts, she was the second of four siblings born to Hildur Bernera (Karlsson) and Karl Harry Lindstrand, who immigrated to America from Sweden.
Much of her early adult life was spent in Southern California raising four daughters. In her later years, she managed several properties in the Reno area. In 1991, she and her partner, Jack Cornett, purchased their home in Walker Lake as their future retirement home. They spent weekends and vacations remodeling and fixing it up before moving there permanently a few years later. Jack passed away in 2008, but Jeannette remained in Walker Lake until moving to the Lefa Seran SNF in Hawthorne in late 2020.

She received wonderful care and attention there – with patient staff who would listen to her endless stories about her life, travels, and kids. She was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, particularly during the years with Favre at quarterback, though she lived in that area only briefly for work. She loved her small home on the hill and its view of Walker Lake on one side and Mt. Grant on the other. She would often site on her back porch to enjoy the view of the Lake.
She is predeceased by her parents and two younger siblings, Lennert Lindstrand and Hildur “Sunny” Sabean. She is survived by her older sister, Harriett (Harold) Learson of Belmont, MA; her former spouse, Charles Olden of Brookings, OR and their children Donna Sweeney in Kailua Kona, HI; Dianne (Bill) Dries in San Diego, CA; Debbie Crowley in South Beach, OR; and Dawne (Tom) Holz in Ashburn, VA; her stepdaughter, Holly Cornett (Jim) Ford in San Diego, CA; and numerous grandchildren/great-grandchildren – scattered all over the world.
Per her wishes, no services will be held. Should friends or family desire, contributions can be made to the Walker Basin Conservancy (www.walkerbasin.org) who work to restore and maintain her beloved Walker Lake.
