The Mineral County High boys basketball team is off to a blazing start to league play after two more wins last week.

The Serpents hit the road for a two-day trip last Friday and topped Lund 72-68. Devayne Isom led the way with 27 points in Saturday’s win and Tyler Thoma came off the bench and added 14 points. Triston Jones finished the night with 11 points while Drake Spanier and Jaevaun Jones had seven points each. The team finished the day with a short drive to Ely to spend the night.

The teams left Ely Saturday morning to play Pahranagat Valley on their way home. The Serpents led at halftime 25-23 and went on to win 58-39. Isom led the scoring with 22 points. Jones added 13 points and Andre White had 11 points.

The boys also thumped Tonopah 74-17 on their home court on Jan. 13

The wins improved the team’s record to 15-3 overall and 5-0 in conference play.

They will open the second half of the conference season with a home game Friday night against Beatty.

Saturday the teams will travel to Round Mountain for afternoon games.
