Charles “Chuck” Eugene Popken, 66, of Makaha passed away on October 9, 2022. He was born in Klamath Falls Oregon on February 16, 1956. He grew up in Hawthorne Nevada. There he spent many summers with his brothers and friends camping in the Sierra’s or water skiing at Walker Lake. In his early teen years his family moved to Guam. There he attended George Washington Highschool. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy. He served his country for 26 years and retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. He found his forever home with his family in Makaha. He loved the ocean, spending countless days fishing, diving and surfing. He carried the true Aloha spirit to everyone he knew and met. Telling stories, making coconut hats, plumeria leis and sitting by the barbeque were his favorite ways to spend the day. He loved life and spending time with family and friends. He was one of a kind and will be remembered in our hearts forever.
He is preceded in death by his mother Shirley, father James, wife and mother of his children Marian, brothers Jim, Fred and Joseph Popken. He is survived by his wife Christina, daughter Amber, sons Scott, Charlie and Jonah, brothers David, Robert and sister Drea and multiple grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life and scattering of the ashes will be held at Mauna Lahilahi on November 19, 2022 at 1 p.m.
