The School Breakfast and National School Lunch Program is also back for the 2022-23 school year, which means that all students within the district get free breakfast and lunch at no cost. Students’ breakfast menus consist of a featured item like waffles, French toast, string cheese, scrambled eggs, and biscuits & gravy while kids can stay energized with lunches that may include chicken strips, corn dogs, pizza, and tacos (along with a vegetable, of course, and sometimes dessert).

At the junior high and high schools, grades 7-8 have closed campus lunch from noon-12:40 p.m. and those in grades 9-12 have open campus lunch from 11:55 a.m.-12:45 p.m.

Along with that, supported by the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, a School Pantry is also available to all MCSD students, open every 1st, 3rd, and 5th Monday of the month from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the elementary school’s multipurpose room. Contact Ms. Viani at 775-945-1000 if you would like to sign up for the pantry or if you’d like to make an appointment for a different day.

The Mineral County high school and junior high student orientation will be held Friday, August 19 at 11 a.m. for incoming seventh graders and any new or returning students through 12th grade. Students and parents will have the opportunity to tour the schools, meet staff, and ask any questions.
