Three new signs have been added at Sportsman’s Beach at Walker Lake which follow the decline in lake level.
Continuing a project that the Walker Lake Working Group, Inc. started in 1998 where signs from lake level from 1882 to 1969 were placed along the road headed down to the beach.
The first sign is the level of Walker Lake in 1921 when Topaz Reservoir was constructed. The second sign, dated 1924, shows when the Bridgeport Reservoir was built and the third when Weber Reservoir was erected.
The signs show the exact spot as to where the lake level was at those times and the effect of upstream division on Walker Lake.
The Walker Lake Working Group, Inc. invites you to take a ride out to Sportsman’s Beach to check out the signs and look at the visual story.
