Armed Forces Day brings people from far and wide back to their hometown.  This year, Hawthorne will get to enjoy the musical return of Gary and Nita Erickson when they bring their band, “Nita & The Pipe Smokin’ Charlies” all the way from Norfolk, Neb.

The Erickson’s left home for greener pastures in 1996.  Since then, they’ve played in a variety of bands and have finally found their musical home, forming the Charlies in 2013.  Though they’ve had some member changes since inception, their collective musical background has only sharpened in diversity and a “blues driven infectious groove.”  Nita tells us that she and the Charlies have one goal: “To connect a sense of joy with the listeners through our mutual love of music.  We have a good time and our audience will, too!”

Barley’s Sports Bar is proud to welcome home “Nita & The Pipe Smokin’ Charlies” when they perform on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 18 at 9 p.m.
