The MCHS Lady Serpents swept the visiting Tonopah Lady Muckers 13-2 on Friday.

In game one, Jesslyn Gomez doubled in the first run of the game and The Lady Serpents would never look back. Perla Gutierrez was the winning pitcher for The Lady Serpents going five strong innings allowing only two runs on three hits while striking out five.

Gomez and Juliet Hernandez led the team in RBI’s with two each while Alexis Inman, Lashay Dunagan Stephens, Perla Gutierrez, McKenna Cardenas and Jerzi Moody-Isom all contributed with 1 RBI each.

Cardenas led The Lady Serpents with two hits.

In Game two, Amyah Boyd was in the circle for The Lady Serpents. Boyd was able to collect the win for The Lady Serpents, allowing six runs on three hits over four innings. Gutierrez threw two innings in relief and picked up where she left off in game one shutting down the Lady Muckers bats.

The Lady Serpents pounded out 11 hits in the victory. Dunagan-Stephens led the hit parade for The Lady Serpents going 3-for-5 with a double, triple and five RBIs. Along with Dunagan-Stephens, Gomez and Boyd had multiple hits for The Lady Serpents in the victory.

Mineral County looks to continue their strong play at home on Friday with a JV game at 12 p.m. and varsity game immediately following against defending 1A state champion Pahranagat Valley.

Saturday, The Lady Serpents will travel to Lone Pine for a doubleheader.

The Lady Serpents record improved to 3-5-1 for the season.
