MCHS students had the opportunity to get information on various career paths March 20.

Mineral County Junior High and Mineral County High School students attended the annual MCHS GEAR UP College and Career Fair March 20.

With more than 30 talented professionals from across the state came out to generously share their valuable work, firsthand experiences, and potential opportunities for future endeavors for our local students including many apprenticeship programs. Students had the opportunity to personally ask questions and candidly discuss how they can further their academic studies and properly start a chosen career path in leading industries that intrigues their possible interests.

The specific organizations appropriately included the University of Nevada Reno; University of Nevada Cooperative Extension; Financial Horizons Credit Union; 11th Judicial District Court; Great Basin College; Paul Mitchell the School-Reno; A&K Earthmovers; Underground Tattoo; NV Energy; Northern Nevada Sheet Metal Workers; Hawthorne Utilities; SOC, JOIN INC; Nevada Department of Transportation; Nevada Highway Patrol; Nevada Division of Forestry; Mineral County Fire Department; Paul Mitchell Alumni with P&P Hair Design; Nevada Rural Water Association and Walker Basin Conservancy.

This one-day event was undoubtedly a fantastic way for local students to become informed and inspired about post-grad options and was instantly a huge success with valuable help from all of the dedicated teachers, staff, and student volunteers.
