Donald Farrell Seevers

Donald Farrell Seevers loving father, uncle, brother passed away on March 28 in Gilbert, Ariz. He was born in Reno on Oct. 19, 1942 to Farrell L. Seevers, former Nevada State Senator, State Assemblyman and respected businessman and Betty Howard Seevers, graduate of USC, educator and mother.

Don attended Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad, Calif. from 7th-12th grade where he graduated with honors. He then went on to attend California Western University. Don left California Western to go into the Peace Corp but while completing training was called home to run his parents business after his father fell ill. Don owned numerous businesses during his life including Seevers Sales and Service and Aurora West both of which were located in Hawthorne. Don was a respected, longtime resident of Hawthorne where he served as Mineral County Commissioner Chairman from 1972-1976 and again from 1980-1984. During his time as county commissioner he also served as chairman of the Central Nevada Development Authority and the State of Nevada Community Development Block Grant Advisory Council as well as numerous other committees both national and state. Don was selected to appear in the 1973 Outstanding Young Men of America publication for his outstanding ability, accomplishments and service to the community.

Don spent the last 15 years in Mesa, Ariz. near his daughter Kristin after retiring from the RV sales business. After leaving Hawthorne Don spent much of his time traveling doing RV sales as well as living in Viroqua, Wis. where he remarried and had a son, Dallas Farrell Seevers.

Don is survived by three daughters: Kristin Iler (Gilbert, Ariz.), Staci Smith (Reno) and Tricia Angell (Fort Worth, Texas); one son Dallas Seevers (Viroqua, Wis.) and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters: Marilynn Coursey and Patricia Miller both of Carson City. Don was preceded in death by both of his parents and his sister, Susan Diane Seevers. Internment date will be determined at a later date.
