Margaret (Peggy) Scott

Margaret (Peggy) Scott

Margaret (Peggy) Scott passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 6, at Harmony Manor Skilled Nursing Facility. She was 92.

Peggy was born in Elko on June 20, 1923 to Horace and Alice Talbot. She was baptized Catholic and remained devout in her Catholic faith until her death. She graduated from Elko High School with the class of 1941. She worked for the U.S. Weather Bureau in Elko from 1942 to 1943, at which time; she married George Moody, also of Elko, in Pueblo, Colo. where he was serving in the U.S. Army Air Force.

Upon his discharge, they returned home to Elko until 1950 when they relocated to Hawthorne. They resided there until his death in 1971. Three years later, she married Warren Scott of Elko, who was a lifelong friend of both her and George’s. She moved back to Elko where she made her home until his death in 1991. During her time in Hawthorne, she worked for State Farm Insurance under A.J. Park and later Bob Downs from 1958 to 1971. She then moved to Winnemucca to be closer to her daughter, Diane, and her family. She resided here until her death.

Upon moving to Winnemucca, she joined St. Paul’s Catholic Church where she made many wonderful friends. They adoringly nicknamed themselves “The Early Morning Church Group.” She cherished her relationship with each and every one of these friends.

Her family was most important to her; she enjoyed the time she was able to spend with them. She was especially proud of the accomplishments her children and grandchildren had achieved in their lives. She also loved to crochet and knit and made many beautiful items. She told many people not to look closely as she didn’t want them to see her mistakes.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Diane (Butch) Malone; granddaughter, Tracy (David) Williams; grandson, Kevin (Katherine) Malone all of Winnemucca. Grandsons: Michael (Michelle) Moody of Reno and Gary Moody of Hawthorne. Great granddaughters: Brittani and Lindsey Williams of Winnemucca; Ryan Williams of U.S. Navy Groton, Conn.; Jordan Moody and Kaitlin Moody both of Reno, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Alice Talbot, husband’s George Moody and Warren Scott; son, Bill Moody and grandson, David Moody.

Very special thanks to Dr. Robbie Grant; Dr. Rick Grant; the nurses and assistants and Laura at Harmony Manor; Dr. Perkinson and staff; Soli Gray and Marlene Shier at Sonoma Funeral Home. She was cremated.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to a charity of your choice.
