American Legion thanksgiving dinner set
The American Legion Post 19 will be serving a traditional Thanksgiving Meal at the post located at 775 E Street, Thursday, Nov. 23. Starting at 12 noon. There is no charge for the meals, however, donations are greatly appreciated. Homebound people may request delivery by calling the post at 945-5226 between 3-6 p.m. They ask you to make your request for home delivery before Tuesday, Nov. 21. Annual Parade of Lights scheduled for Dec. 1
The Mineral County Community Christmas Parade of Lights will be held on Friday, Dec. 1 at 5:30 p.m.
The parade of lights is sponsored by Hawthorne Lions Club and The Coalition of Mineral County.
The parade will begin with line-up at 4:45 p.m. at Wagners Hardware on the corner of Fifth and E Street and will end at Veterans Park to kick off the community Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
The community Christmas party will begin after the parade with a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, hot cocoa, coffee, goodies, chili, soup and more as well as Christmas caroling and live music.

Mina Bazaar on tap Saturday
The project council for the Mina Care and Share is proud to announce their annual bazaar, just in time for Thanksgiving. Held on Saturday, Nov. 18, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mina Senior Center, 821 8th Street in Mina. This is an annual fund raiser for the Mina Care and Share and is always a lot of fun.
Included are homemade sweets – pies, cakes, cookies, candies – and an array of white elephants for sale. Lunch for sale will include hot dogs, chili dogs and bowls and soft drinks.

Walker Lake community meeting Nov. 28
A Walker Lake community meeting has been arranged for Nov. 28 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the fire station on Randall Street. Discussion will be to reestablish the Walker Lake Volunteer Advisory Board and discuss issues related directly to the community of Walker Lake.
Representation of different entities will be on-hand to address issues as related to the volunteer fire station, the water board and other matters of concern. Residents and land-owners are encouraged to attend. Coffee and refreshments will be served.
2018 Nevada Mining Calendar available
The 2018 Nevada Historic Mining Calendar is now available. This calendar describes Tungsten mining in Nevada. All funds donated for the purchase of the calendars are used for scholarships and functions that benefit the students at the Mackay School of Earth Sciences and Engineering.
