Parents, guardians and caregivers of students who will enter Hawthorne Junior High School (7th and 8th graders) are invited to participate in Capstone Action Project to be facilitated by Kathy Trujillo.
Trujillo, a Safe School Professional, is completing her graduate studies at Claremont Lincoln University (CLU). The research question that is being asked is “Can positive social change (community pride and parental involvement) occur at Hawthorne Junior High School by focusing and building upon current individual and organization strengths?”
In addition to collaboration with Principal Jeff Wales and Superintendent Walt Hackford, the project is being supervised by Dr. Stan Ward, Dean of Capstone Studies at CLU. Dr. Ward has a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies and was also an instructor and administrator at the Brook Hill School in Bullard, TX. Results of the research project will be presented to the Mineral County School Board during the month of August. In addition, a Jr. High School Dream Team will be created to explore ways to start the 2017-18 school year on a positive note. Interested individuals will be asked to talk about ideas to recognize Hawthorne Jr. High students and help them reach their full potential.
Please contact Trujillo at Mineral County High School, 945-3332 extension 16 or her cell 316-0388 if you would like to volunteer, participate or have any questions.
