Stephen Kent Cate

Stephen Kent Cate was born June 6, 1946 in Thermopolis, Wyo. He passed away peacefully in Hawthorne on Feb. 13, 2017 at the age of 70.

Steve was a resident of Mina for 47 years; he was involved in the mining industry for 35 years. Steve served in the Army during the Vietnam War.

Steve was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara; parents: John and Mae Cate; brother: Max Cate and a grandson, Jeff Pauley. He is survived by brother, Larry Cate (Florence, Ore.); sisters: Karen Stone (Pahrump, Nev.) and Lucille T. Cate (Fernley, Nev.); step-daughter: Bobbie Hurley Todd (Cincinnati, Ohio); granddaughter: Amanda McLaughlin (Ridgeview, Wash.) and step-son: Dan E. Malloy (Clear Lake, Calif.).

A memorial will be held at a later date at the Mina Cemetery.
